Canned Food Drive

Friends,

As approved in business meeting today, let’s see how many canned goods we can accumulate this week to mark Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.  We wanted to combine a canned food drive with an opportunity for Friends to get together outside and masked to sort the goods in prep for delivery to Little Free Pantries or Mid-South Food Bank drop-off sites on MLK Day.

We'll meet at 2:30 on Sunday Jan. 16 in the side courtyard.  We’ll provide some hot chocolate and spiced cider.  Bring your own mug. That will eliminate dishwashing on premises. Depending on the weather, we may also paint a banner for the parking lot fence with a MLK Beloved Community message.

Here are the most needed things to bring, according to the Mid-South Food Bank.  I am going to the meeting house soon to set up boxes and bags in the collection room for those who can drop off their own (please be masked on entering). Saturday may not be a good day since the housekeeper will be working in the meeting house.  If you need assistance in the form of us picking up from you, call Susan 272-9850 or Blake 849-4238. Or you could wait til the day of and drop them by the meeting house when we are there. We'll have a list of the Little Food Pantry locations and you can also sign up to deliver a box to the location of your choosing.
