a recent thank you card from AVP Basic participants at Jail East
Memphis AVP has two upcoming community workshops. Is one of them just right for you or someone you know? As always, meals and snacks will be provided and all are welcome whether or not they are able to contribute to costs. It is important for participants to be ready to commit to the entire weekend. Please help us spread the word!
AVP Advanced Workshop - March 8-10
Location: Fight for $15 Office
Calling all who have completed an AVP Basic workshop! Mischievous Mahal will be lead facilitator of this workshop. The focus topic will be selected by those registering for the workshop from a list of topics such as power and powerlessness and self-reflection. Please sign up to let us know you'll be able to join us!
Alternatives to Violence Project started in the 1970s as a joint project of incarcerated people, community volunteers (who happened to be Quakers), and civil rights leader Bernard Lafayette. It has now spread to many prisons and communities worldwide. Memphis AVP is still young, founded in 2015. Join us and help something beautiful grow in Memphis! All aged 14 and older are welcome. (For experienced AVPers interested in becoming facilitators, this workshop is also an opportunity for you to become a facilitator-in-training.)
