Introduction to Conscious Communication - part 1 of 4

NOTE: This is a series sponsored by Greater Madison Area Conscious Communication Communities of Practice, which meets at the Friends Meetinghouse. It is not a Friends Meeting activity, although many Friends have participated.

This introductory series is one of the best ways to experience the practice of conscious communication. There is no obligation to attend every session or to continue your practice after the series concludes.

If you decide to continue exploring conscious communication, you’ll be welcome to join one of our ongoing practice groups for beginners.

Please join us for one or all of the following Wednesday evening sessions.

September 18: Empathy Poker
We will define our terms and practice with a game called “Empathy Poker.” You’ll get a taste of what it feels like to communicate from this perspective.

September 25: Thoughts Get in the Way
A fun exercise demonstrates how thoughts can get in the way of effective communication and connection.

October 2: Take Back Your Power (How to Never Be Insulted Again)
We will work with our real-life “trigger statements.” Experience what it’s like to use the basic principles of conscious communication in a challenging situation with another person.

October 9: Working with “Enemy” or Fixed Images
We will explore communication without words, an embodied practice that can quickly identify and release difficult or repetitive patterns in a relationship.

There is no cost to attend, although modest donations are gratefully accepted to help offset the costs of our hosts who donate meeting spaces.
