For First Day School on January 23, 2022, we will welcome back Janice Thomson who will be joined by Richard Thompson to discuss their experiences with Experiment with Light groups.

Experiment with Light (EwL) is a guided meditation practice developed in the 1990s by British Quaker Rex Ambler based on the spiritual practices of early Friends. It is typically done in small groups, either face-to-face or virtually, to strengthen connection with Spirit, access inner guidance, and deepen spiritual friendship.  

Richard has been leading EwL groups since being trained by Rex Ambler in 1996. He is currently clerk of the Languedoc Friends Meeting at the Centre Quaker in Congenies, France and leads two virtual EwL groups. Janice joined us in October with Kathleen Sydnor to discuss Faithfulness Groups and has been part of one of Richard’s EwL groups for four years. 

After a short outline of the history and theory of this practice, Richard will lead a brief Experiment with Light (EwL) meditation. There will be ample time for questions, as well as guidance on how to start your own EwL group.
