Bayou Quarterly Meeting in Moss Bluff, LA

Dear Friends,

It is almost time for us to get together north of Lake Charles, LA for our weekend of fellowship with friends from throughout our quarterly meeting.  Monthly meetings and isolated Friends from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Beaumont, Houston, and Galveston make up Bayou Quarterly.  The registration packet with additional information is attached below as a PDF file.

Remember that any of your friends who are interested in joining you are welcome, whether they attend worship with you or not.  This is a great opportunity to meet other Quakers and spend time with like-minded people. If it is difficult for you to get away from home on Friday afternoon, drive over on Saturday morning.  We usually leave by 1pm on Sunday, following morning worship and train-wreck lunch (whatever is left in the fridge from Saturday!).  We love having children share the weekend with us but please give me a heads up if you'll be bringing yours.

We will have meeting for worship with attention to business on Saturday and time for a committee to work on details of our theme suggestion for yearly meeting in spring, 2019.  Pot luck supper on Saturday night is a high point of the weekend as is our show and tell time after supper.  There is time throughout the weekend to walk the woods' paths or the boardwalk over the swamp to the edge of the Calcasieu River.  We have a box filled with miscellaneous art supplies and folks bring puzzles and musical instruments.  Edwin Campbell usually brings his telescopes and, if the sky is clear, we get in some stargazing Friday or Saturday night.

Rain or shine, it is a good weekend.  Come and join us!  We look forward to being with you.
