Second Query: Deepening Our Faith: Meeting for Business

  • Is our meeting for business held in worship in which we seek divine guidance?

  • How do we sustain prayerful consideration of all aspects of an issue and address difficult problems with a search for truth that is unhurried by the pressures of time?

  • Do we recognize that we speak through our inaction as well as our action?

  • Do I regularly attend meeting for business? If unable to attend, how do I fulfill the responsibility to understand and embrace the decisions made?

  • How do I affirm and support God’s presence in the process of discernment and reaching a decision?

  • Do I remain open to personal transformation as the community arrives at the sense of the meeting?

Story-telling: A Community Experiment

Join regular attender Nolan Morris as he follows his leading to build community through sharing stories. Storytelling gets to the heart of human experience and works to create community and harmony. Join us on February 10th from 4-6 p.m. at the Kennett Friends Meetinghouse for a community storytelling event intended to bring us all closer through the sharing of our respective stories. How does it work? Show up with an open mind and heart, ready to listen and/or share. That's it.

Possible stories to consider: Which life events have made you "you"? What lessons have you learned over the years that you might wish to share with others to help them on their way? Nothing coming to mind? That's okay, too -- engaged listeners are an essential part of the equation and a prompt will be provided on the day of the event to help spark creativity, as well. However you enjoy expressing your story, we want to hear it. Sing a song, recite a poem, display a piece of art or family trinket and explain its significance, etc. The only rule is to maintain an atmosphere of non-judgement and acceptance towards all, yourself included. The storytelling will be followed by food and fellowship as we take time to digest and enjoy the evening's festivities together. This event is open to all ages. We hope to see you there.
