Friendly Eights is here again! Are you new to Kennett Friends? Or have you been around “forever”? Either way, Friendly Eights is a great way to get to know our community better. Sign up on the clipboard in the Meeting Room (or respond to this email) and Care & Counsel will form groups of eight Friends to get together and …..do whatever you want to do! Super casual, super fun. Sign up ends soon! |
Do You Serve on a Committee? The nominating committee has the pleasant task of making sure the committees of our Meeting are well staffed. When we ask people to serve, almost always our members and attenders are willing. Trustees are expected to serve a five year term with one renewal; committee members, a three year term with one renewal. The standing committees are as follows: Trustees, Care and Counsel, Community Action for Peace, Education, Hadley, Finance, House and Property, Library, Memorial, Nominating, Old Kennett, Religious Education, Sara Bowers, Worship and Ministry.
The standing committee list for 2018- 19 is being prepared. Old timers, please call on any member of the nominating committee if you have any question about your term status or a desire to change your role. New members and attenders, please contact us with your preference if you have not been asked to join a committee. Your participation is important, and working with a small group is rewarding. Nominating committee: Tish Dalton 610 444 3334 Lars Farmer 302 299 2111 Kathy Gamble 610 444 2155 Mary Claire Stevens 610 444 6108 |
General Query for April: Nurturing Our Community: Care for the Meeting Do we help each other to live with integrity and contribute that integrity to the life of our meeting? How does our meeting learn of members’ needs and offer its assistance? How does our meeting nurture members in all stages of life? How does our meeting welcome those new to Friends and integrate them into our community? When a member’s conduct or manner of living gives cause for concern, how does the meeting respond? |
Individual: Am I ready both to offer and to accept meeting assistance when needed?
Do I treat adults and children alike with respect and without condescension?
What opportunities have I taken to know, work and worship with Friends in the larger spiritual communities we share? |
April Quarterly Meeting - Joint with Western and Concord Quarters

Afternoon program presented by Dr. Amanda Kemp: 5 Steps to Stop Implicit Racial Bias
Dr. Kemp’s Racial Bias Awareness and Prevention Training offers:
Tools to have productive conversations about racism;
Ways to recognize and stop actions driven by unconscious bias;
Greater understanding of institutional racism;
5 steps to make your businesses, organizations, and communities more inclusive and equitable.
Note while this is an introductory workshop in many ways, participants will be given opportunities to continue learning and practicing skills gained previously. Participants who have engaged in this work regularly will have much to offer those new to the work. It is an opportunity for all participants to expand the ways we know ourselves and each other.
Registrants will be given pre-work to prepare for the presentation.
We also recommend the Stop the Hurt 5 Day Challenge or go to www.dramandakemp.com for Dr. Kemp’s book.
