With masks on, and fires lit, Haverford Monthly Meeting is welcoming the community to a Christmas Eve reading, caroling, and Christmas window viewing with refreshments.

Bring your children (and your inner child) into the meetinghouse at 855 Buck Lane, Haverford, for a 5:00 PM reading of the Christmas story followed by carols.

Visit the meeting porch for cider and cookies, then see the sparkling lit windows with miniature mouse houses, and village and shop scenes peopled by Lion, Tender Bear, City Mouse, Maileg mice and bunnies, Country Mouse, fairies, little creatures, angels, elves, Saint Nicholas, sleighs, and the advent story.

The windows

Haverford Meeting’s windows have been changing weekly all fall into winter as the mice left the beach, their lakeside camping site, and other vacation spots to move back into their furnished “meetinghouse” homes for tea, crumpets and tree decorating. They opened a bakery, went sledding on the ice, visited the toy shop, and made new friends at an outdoor music concert. Soon the bakery and toy shop will change for a Christmas eve look into Santa’s workshop.

The project was done with the help of Ella, a Fifth Grade Friends School Haverford student, and meeting members who happened to be well supplied with miniature furniture, fairies, and small stuffed mice.
