Here's a great summary of how Quakerism started, by Max Carter of Guilford College

At our recent living room conversation we looked at the plat maps showing where the original meetinghouses were - the school houses at Cedar Run and Long Lake - and photos of them. We studied plat maps showing Pleasant Grove and the Round Top schoolhouse where Levi Pennington taught, just outside Maple City.

We looked at the Garfield Township plat map that shows the Lone Pine schoolhouse, the predecessor of Traverse City Friends Meeting, and the nearby farm where evangelist Amos Kenworthy lived.

Between the notes of apprecation from our members and the heart-shaped pancakes it was a special brunch today.  Thank you to Jiim for the wonderful buckwheat pancakes, and to Chef Tom for the made to order omelettes, and Dave's grill full of bacon! Excellent!

The 1894 meetinghouse is finally ours!
This photograph must have been taken in the first decade of its life, since the former parsonage (missing from this picture) was built in 1903.
