July 23, 2017 Meeting for Learning

Topic: Henry Joel Cadbury, Ph. D. (1883–1974)

At this month's meeting for learning we will discuss Henry Cadbury.  Cadbury was a scholar and Quaker historian as well as a leader in the American Friends Service committee. He is also sometimes recognized as contributing to "non-theist" Quaker thought.

We two articles Friends may reference to support our discussion.  These include the following:

1.  An article from Friends Journal titled Let This Life Speak by Margaret Hope Bacon. This article provides an overview of Cadbury's life and contribution to Quaker thought and action.

2. A lecture by Cadbury entitled "My Personal Religion". https://universalistfriends.org/UF035.html#Cadbury

An additional resource some folks my find interesting is another lecture by Cadbury titled "A Quaker Approach to the Bible".
