Friends General Conference

Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

Easton Day

The Easton Meeting's Annual Commemoration of the Feather of Peace

This year's featured speaker is Christopher Sammond, General Secretary of New York Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.

His topic is:

“Easton's White Feather Day: It's Not Just About Easton Quakers”

"When the Quakers first arrived in Pennsylvania," said one of the Meeting's members, "the Indians recognized that they were peaceful people - and that recognition extended to tribes beyond the borders of Pennsylvania.  The wisdom of our ancestors, both Quaker and Native American, can be a guiding light for us in these times when climate change and economic uncertainty call for compassion toward neighbors, communities and the environment. We are fortunate to have Christopher Sammond with us, who has a wealth of experience in helping people with diverse views and life experience to work together for a just society."

The program will also include music by local singer-songwrier Freddy Freeman and his husband Jay.  Freddy and Jay currently live in Easton where Freddy works on albums and promotes music events at Easton Mountain Retreat Center.
