Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

How do we worship?

On Sundays, worship is preceded by singing beginning at about 9:45 a.m.  At 10:00, we settle in silence. Once a month shortly after the start of worship, a brief reading is presented.

We practice “silent worship”. Anyone present may be led to break the silence with spoken ministry. Friends try to keep their vocal ministry personally expressive rather than prescriptive.  Friends do not speak at length, pursue a theme, or answer another person’s question during worship. A period of silence following each vocal ministry allows us to reflect upon the message.

Children are welcome to participate in worship. Children who are in the Meeting’s childcare or  First Day (Sunday) school program sometimes join the final 10 minutes or so of the adult worship.

Worship continues until 11:00 a.m., with the end signaled by a handshake and followed by a short period of introductions and announcements.
