Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

Community Friends Meeting

Welcome!

We welcome all visitors.  We believe there is that of God in each one of us, which leads us to be welcoming of diversity and inclusive of all people.  We feel that the rich diversity of religious expression and experience in our Meeting is one of our strengths.

Community Friends Meeting is a welcoming faith community in the Quaker (Religious Society of Friends) tradition. As Friends, we believe that every person has the capacity to inwardly experience and faithfully respond to God’s love and guidance.  Recognizing that we may name and experience God in diverse ways, we seek to nurture a sense of being joined to the Divine, to one another, and to all of creation.

At the heart of our spiritual community is the practice of deep, prayerful listening based in silence. During this time together, which we call “meeting for worship,’ some may feel led by the Spirit to speak out of the silence and to share a message with those gathered. We have the expectation that in opening ourselves to the presence of the Divine, spiritual revelation occurs which can transform ourselves and our world.

Living a life grounded in the Spirit is understood by Quakers to issue forth in commitments to nonviolence, equality, simplicity, integrity, community, and care for creation. We seek to foster creative peacemaking in our families and communities and to work for a more just and ecologically sustainable world.  Our Meeting is LGBTQ+ welcoming and affirming.
