How one 18th century man helped Quakers bring an end to their enslaving others: read the story of Benjamin Lay as presented in the September 2017 issue of Smithsonian Magazine. Find it here:
Inspired by "The Kindness Rocks Project" our young people and members of Meeting have been painting rocks. Here are the rules, according to the website at http://thekindnessrocksproject.com/
GOAL #1: INSPIRE OTHERS THROUGH RANDOMLY PLACED ROCKS ALONG THE WAY…
GOAL #2: RECRUIT EVERY PERSON WHO STUMBLES UPON IT TO JOIN IN THE PURSUIT OF INSPIRING OTHERS THROUGH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
We are reading two books by Robert D. Lupton to inform our giving and charitable work: Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities Hurt Those They Help (And How to Reverse It), Harper Collins, 2011; and Charity Detox: What Charity Would Look Like If We Cared About Results, Harper Collins, 2015.
