Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting received the following minute concerning mass incarceration and the cash bail system from Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting. The minute, rising from Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, was considered at our 4/22/2018 meeting for business.  The first two requests of the minute were referred to CHMM’s newly formed ad-hoc committee that will guide us in examining racial justice issues.  The third seeks Friends who might work with CPMM to attend cash bail hearings in Philadelphia to better understand how different judges and prosecutors address the issue, and its implications. Chestnut Hill Friends are invited to consider whether they are led, as individuals, to take part in this effort. Our meeting for business asked that the minute be published in the newsletter for interested Friends to respond.
