Clerks, Representatives, and Trustees:

The Clerk & Assistant Clerk facilitate the Meetings with a Concern for Business. The Clerk may speak for the meeting if business situations require such attention.

Representatives to Summit and Chatham Interfaith Councils are our representatives at local ecumenical gatherings.

The Trustees of Chatham Summit Quaker Meeting have fiduciary responsibility for the Meeting’s assets, both financial and physical, including major repairs and capital investments in the Meeting House and maintenance of the rental house on the property.

Committees:

Working together in committees (many of which are open to non-Quakers) is one of the most effective ways we have of getting to know and appreciate each other. Here are brief descriptions of the work and responsibilities of the committees of the Chatham Summit Quaker Meeting.

The Communications Committee helps to ensure timely and accurate communication within the meeting and externally with the community.  Areas of responsibility include the meeting’s website, event calendar and email notifications.

The Facilities Committee oversees the maintenance and housekeeping of the Meeting House and grounds and arranges periodic work days for minor maintenance, housekeeping, and cleanup.

The Finance Committee prepares the annual budget for meeting approval and provides advice and recommendations on financial matters of the Meeting. Committee members include the Treasurer of the Meeting and Treasurer of Trustees.

The Library Committee maintains the Meeting’s collection of books and other materials (Pendle Hill pamphlets, magazines, newsletters, etc.) and oversees circulation and shelving of the collection. The meeting historian, who is also part of the committee, maintains general meeting records and archives.

The Ministry & Oversight Committee focuses on nurturing the spiritual life of the meeting community and fostering a caring meeting community, including welcoming new members and arranging for clearness committees as requested.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for nominating members and attenders to fill all the clerking and committee positions in the Meeting. It is asked to discern the gifts and interests of members and attenders and to encourage and facilitate the participation of all members and attenders in the work of the Meeting.

The Peace & Social Action Committee educates the Meeting on concerns about peace and social justice, coordinates peace and service activities and makes recommendations to the Meeting for annual contributions to peace and justice organizations.

The Religious Education Committee plans and implements religious education and activities for the children and youth of the Meeting. This involves selection and preparation of First Day School curriculum as well as recruiting teachers for First Day School. The committee endeavors to involve the Meeting in First Day School and the lives of its children and youth.

The Young Children/Child Care Committee operates as a subcommittee of Religious Education to provide child care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants and toddlers during weekly worship services.
