Central Philadellphia Meeting is one local point of Light in a wider constellation of Quaker organizations. We are directly affiliated with some and more loosely associated with others. We provide links to these organizations' websites below.

Direct Affiliations

Philadelphia Yearly Meeting—a denominational organization for Quaker meetings in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. (Called a yearly meeting because it meets to conduct its primary business once a year.)

Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting—a gathering of the eight Quaker meetings in Philadelphia. (Called a quarterly meeting because it conducts is business quarterly.)

Friends Select School—a pre-K–12 Quaker school associated with the meeting but independently incorporated, located at 1651 Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Friends Southwestern Burial Ground—a burial ground under the meeting's care though independently incorporated that offers "Simple burials for all in Philadelphia."

POWER—"an interfaith organization committed to building communities of opportunity that work for all."

Quaker Social Witness Organizations

  • Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP)—Runs workshops in communities and prisons to enable creative, affirming responses to conflict and violence.
  • American Friends Service Committee (AFSC)—Founded during World War I, AFSC promotes lasting peace with justice, as a practical expression of faith in action.
  • Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL)—Founded in 1943, AFSC lobbies Congress and the administration to advance peace, justice, opportunity, and environmental stewardship.
  • Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW)—Quaker Earthcare Witness is a network of North American Friends and other like-minded people who are taking spirit-led action to address the ecological and social crises of the world from a spiritual perspective, emphasizing Quaker process and testimonies.
