BRFM assembles care bags for street persons

At the rise of Worship of our November 1st, 2020, Meeting, attenders of Baton Rouge Friends Meeting (Quakers) assembled 20 care bags to be distributed to street persons of the Baton Rouge metro area. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began some months ago, Friends have raised concerns that the number of people asking for help at street corners and intersections has increased. Friends then decided to assemble care bags to hand out to individuals as Spirit leads. Bags contained clean socks, winter hats and gloves, bottled water, snacks, some basic personal hygiene products, masks, sanitizing wipes, and other items which we take for granted on a day to day basis to which some lack basic access. Friends also included a laminated card in the bag with basic information on hospitals, clinics, and aid organizations in the area, as well as the number for the National Suicide Prevention Helpline. We snapped some images of our bag assembly line and our finished products!
