News & Announcements
Following worship is a 'second hour,' which typically consists of a potluck meal (first Sunday of the month), business meeting (second Sunday), adult education program (third and fourth Sundays), or sharing of a spiritual journey (fifth Sunday). Information on how to join second hours while we continue to meet virtually is sent out by the Clerk to the Community Friends Meeting mailing list. Contact us for more information.
The following is a list of second hours through the end of 2020:
Earth Day 2020 at CFM: Four Friends of the Something Green in reach group celebrated Earth Day. Peggy Spohr, Jim Rhein, Paul Buckley, and Sue Brungs (while practicing social distancing) gathered on the front lawn of our Meetinghouse to celebrate being one with the Creator and Creation. They reminded us that climate change and environmental degradation are still with us and that we need to act and pray for Earth healing.
Community Friends Meeting marked the 6th annual World Quaker Day with a group photo following meeting for worship. World Quaker Day is sponsored by the Friends World Committee for Consultation.
The Center for Development in Central America is a clinic, Fair trade agricultural and lending cooperative, and cultural exchange program in Managua , Nicaragua. Ken Bordwell was the "sponsor" of this organization with Community Friends, but since his death a year ago I have not been diligent enough in communicating why Community Friends supports it.
Dearest friends! Thank you again so much for all your support since Ken's sudden death. It has made all the difference in the world. I know so many are out there for me, so many have sent encouragement, and so many have helped in large and small ways, as I was able to identify needs.
Ken's memorial meeting will be at St. Peter in Chains Undercroft, 8th and Plum St. Use the small 8th St entrance; there is another mass going on upstairs.
Wednesday Nov. 22 (the day before Thanksgiving) 10 AM to noon Chili and sandwiches will be available.
