Black Lives Matter NJ organized a Back to School Community Festival this past Saturday at the Trenton Friends Meetinghouse and grounds.  It was an extremely successful event, drawing together other service organizations and faith groups, with health screenings by Capital Health doctors, vaccinations (COVID and childhood vaccines) by the Trenton Health Team, abundant food, 300 filled backpacks, produce and MUCH fun for all ages.

In March last year's campers at Safe Haven's summer camp expressed why they wanted the camp to be open this year.  As the summer progressed, the end of camp approached and the children wanted another week.  Trenton Meeting was able to provide funds to help that extra week happen.  Honored to be given this opportunity.  Thank you David Cox and Bryan Caver and everyone at The Safe Haven on Old Rose Street.

The following letter was approved by Meeting to be sent to the New Jersey US Senators Booker and Menendez at the Thrid Month Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business:

Dear Senator xxx,

George Clymer and his Quaker Connection

George Clymer, signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, is buried in our Meeting’s yard.  As told to me, the Meeting’s handed-down verbal story states that he was not a Quaker, but was visiting his son in Trenton in the winter when he died.  Although he lived in Morrisville, he had to be buried in Trenton because the Delaware River could be crossed then only by ferry.  This story is in error.
