8/20/2017 Worship CANCELLED: location is ground zero for eclipse festivities

Our Small Meeting Will Be Eclipsed in 2017 and 2024

The news for Carbondale is exciting: we're located within a couple of seconds of longest duration for the historic total solar eclipse due to occur Monday, August 21, 2017. NASA is teaming up with Southern Illinois University to create a major observation hub here on campus. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected in our rural college town. And we'll be right under another one in April of 2024.

In January 2017, we united to name the following Friends in these roles, for a term of two years:

Clerk - Tom Hensold (also serves as "President" of the not for profit corporation entity)

Recording Clerk - Jill Adams (also "Secretary" of the corporation)

Treasurer - Dawn Crimson (also Treasurer of the corporation)

FUN (Friends Under Nineteen) Coordinator - Maurine Pyle

Pastoral and Sufferings Committee -

Anchor Committee for the ministry of Maurine Pyle -

Effective December, 2016, our meeting has relocated to the Dayemi Family Center, 214 E Jackson St, Carbondale, IL 62901. This building has a great history, and is currently a schoolhouse with enclosed playground, owned and operated by the Dayemi Tariqat. We hold our worship and meetings in the main room, using a back room for First Day School when weather prevents enjoying the outdoors.
