My thoughts have been trending toward the subject of humility, which seems to be in short supply these days. This poem spoke to me and I share it with you:

Query given by Charlotte Raasch on Sunday August 6th 2023.

Query taken from Faith & Practice, IL. Yearly Meeting 2020.

Do I experience a sense of wonder when I am in a natural environment? - Faith & Practice 1972, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.

The September query was presented by Barbara Fuhrman and came from Philadelphia Yearly Meeting:

"How does participation in meeting for worship contribute to my life-long spiritual journey?"

This month’s query was shared by Pam Kuhn, and comes from Faith and Practice: Illinois Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends,

"What does our meeting do to increase the depth of meeting for worship?"

Public

Our query on the first Sunday of July asked how we can deepen worship. This topic has come up in other contexts for me this month, including during meeting for worship with attention for business. Here are some of the recommendations I collected this month:

● On the morning of meeting for worship, avoid things that will later distract you while you are trying to center. (For me, this includes avoiding reading novels, reading news headlines, or listening to very catchy tunes.)

This month’s query was shared by Rob Thompson, and comes from Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Faith and Practice:

“What are we doing to invite persons to attend our meetings for worship, to welcome them when they come, to listen sensitively to their needs and hesitations and to encourage their continued attendance?"
