the spiritual gifts of members. The TMP is particularly concerned with supporting
the efforts of meetings to nurture those Friends who have reached clearness
with their meeting and yearly meeting to travel in the ministry among Friends
in North America.
How to Request Assistance
FGC can assist meetings that may have questions concerning their role and responsibilities when a member requests clearness and ongoing support and mutual accountability concerning a spiritual leading. FGC Traveling Ministries Program will also work with Friends organizations to support travel under concern.
The TMP coordinator can answer questions concerning traditional clearness process, and if needed, a visit from seasoned Friends can be arranged for the purpose of consultation.
When a Friend has received clearness to travel from her/his meeting and a representative body of the yearly meeting the TMP may be able to assist in various ways. Usually the meeting provides financial suport and holds the visitor accountable for the visit. The TMP can also help with practical arrangements such as contacts, travel plans, arranging for a companion or elder, and helping to secure additional financial assistance. A modest amount has been budgeted by FGC to assist meetings with limited financial resources.
Travel with TMP
Some seasoned Friends who have received clearness to travel from their meetings may feel led to submit their names to the TMP as volunteers available to travel upon request. The Traveling Ministries Program receives requests from meetings, worship groups and other Friends' gatherings interested in a visit, worship, workshop or presentation by a seasoned Friend. When receiving such requests the TMP coordinator refers to the volunteer file and may consult with other staff and committee members to help discern a possible visitor for the group.
