Leadership Training

Couple Enrichment Leadership Training 2006

More and more meetings are seeking ways to support committed, caring relationships. Couple Enrichment leadership training prepares lay couples (no need to be professional counselors) to lead other couples in Friends meetings in the process of nurturing their relationships.

The primary qualifications for leader couples are that they are committed to growth in their own relationships, open to sharing the joys and struggles of their relationship with other couples in a supportive setting, and able to work well as a team in group leadership.

The training can lead to recognition by Friends General Conference as leaders of Couple Enrichment for Friends. It also qualifies as basic training for certification by the Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment. Training is open to committed couples without regard to gender.

Prospective leader couples must have participated in at least one couples retreat, workshop, or growth group prior to the training.

The training is planned for early 2006 to allow time for couples to have the prerequisite experience. It will be led by two experienced leader couples: Brad Sheeks and Patricia McBee of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and Joan and Rich Liversidge of Baltimore Yearly Meeting. The exact date and location will be set in consultation with the trainees.
