Serving as a Traveling Ministries Visitor

Service Opportunity

FGC offers a service that connects Friends who have spiritual gifts to share with meetings seeking support.

FGC visitors are:

  • Seasoned Friends - those who have demonstrated spiritual maturity and faithfulness, who carry gifts of ministry, and who are recommended and held accountable by their meetings for the ministry they can provide.
  • Companions in the ministry - those who have demonstrated spiritual maturity and faithfulness and who are willing and able to provide both spiritual and practical support to the visitor with whom they are traveling.

Read about what is required of seasoned Friends and companions in the ministry.

Read about the responsibilities of the meeting requesting a visit from Friends traveling in the ministry, and how the meeting and FGC discern together who might serve as visitors.

Clearness process

Before making this commitment it may be helpful to approach your meeting to assist you in gaining clarity around your leading.

You may want to ask for a clearness committee and, if found clear to travel, ask that an anchor committee be named before you begin to travel.

Note - It may be several months or longer before we receive a request that would be a good match with the spiritual gifts that a specific volunteer has to offer.
