The companion in the ministry is sometimes referred to as a spiritual companion or an elder. We encourage all FGC Gathering workshop leaders to have a companion in the ministry, a Friend who has demonstrated spiritual maturity and
have the recommendation of his or her meeting.

This resource provides the biographies of African American Quakers from as long ago as the colonial period. FGC encourages their use in First Day school lessons and in other educational situations.
When Friends travel in the gospel ministry they visit individuals and/or meetings without a predetermined agenda other than to be faithful to listen and to respond to the promptings of the Spirit.
