About QuakerPress of FGC
Quaker Press of FGC is under the care of the Publications and Distribution Committee of Friends General Conference
One of FGC's long term goals it to "Articulate, communicate and model core experiences, values and principles of Friends, such as the direct experience of God, the miracle of the gathered meeting, the meeting for worship for business, the balancing of individual leadings with corporate discernment, and the call to live and witness to our faith." The publications committee carries forth this mandate in the following ways:
- Expand the FGC publications program for print resources in response to demand likely to be generated by an expansion of FGC's work to nurture meetings and other program initiatives.
- Publish materials arising out of FGC programs and committees.
- Help Quaker authors publish through FGC and Quakers United in Publishing.
- Develop an distribute materials for advancement and outreach.
- Work with yearly meetings and other Quaker organizations to develop a clearinghouse which helps to provide information and resources to Friends and their meetings.
- Begin publishing certain materials on the Internet.
- Publish and distribute materials of interest to Friends of Color and other ethnic groups (including Spanish-language materials) and to Friends who are working to increase diversity within their meetings.
- Expand the FGC Internet web page to enable seekers to get information about Friends and Friends Meetings.
