Full Description
FGC is seeking candidates for a one-year internship. The intern will promote the new Quaker Press of FGC publication, Fit for Freedom, Not for Friendship: Quakers, African Americans, and the Myth of Racial Justice. In addition the intern will assist program staff with the publication and distribution of print, web-based and other resources that nurture vital Quakerism. Responsibilities include arranging book signings, author interviews and other events; Promoting workshops and discussion of Fit for Freedom, not for Friendship with Monthly, Yearly Meetings and other Quaker institutions. The intern will serve as on-site contact and administrative assistant for the publications manager and assist in the reprint process for existing Quaker Press titles. We are looking for a person who is detail-oriented, comfortable planning and organizing complex projects and who has strong communication, editing, computer and web skills. Familiarity with Quakers desirable, but not required. Full job description is available. Salary is $18,000 plus full benefits and 24 days vacation. Start date will be early September, 2008.
