Remarkable Gift from Anonymous Canadian Donor

FGC has received a very special contribution of $50,000* from an anonymous Canadian donor. In making this gift the donor asked that the funds "be spent on programs that have a direct incremental impact in Canada." The entire amount is earmarked for spending during FGC's 2002, 2003 and 2004 fiscal years. We are also pleased to report that in addition to the gift to FGC the same donor made a substantial gift directly to Canadian Yearly Meeting for its work. After discussions with Gordon McClure, clerk of Canadian Yearly Meeting, we are considering several possible uses of the funds including: more extensive travel within CYM by seasoned Friends through our Traveling Ministries Program, a possible Young Quakes Conference and/or a regional conference or training program for Friends in Canada, Couple Enrichment workshops in CYM and - assistance for CYM Friends who attend FGC events such as the Annual Gathering and smaller conferences. FGC deeply appreciates this special gift, as well as the opportunity to work with Canadian Friends to strengthen FGC's work in their yearly meeting. * in Canadian dollars, approximately $32,000 in US dollars
