Worship and Quaker Values: An Introduction

If you have ever been asked the question "What do Quakers believe?" then you know the difficulty in providing a quick answer. This curriculum was written with that question in mind. Beginning with an opening essay in pamphlet form, the curriculum provides a full discussion of the basic values and practices of Quakerism. Each lesson has a brief lecturette, discussion questions and activities on a single Quaker value or practice. Some examples of the lessons are simplicity, the peace testimony, and decision-making. Each lesson takes about one and one-half hours to complete. At our meeting we taught the class to an intergenerational class comprised of junior high students to adults. We especially offered this class as an outreach to inquirers, but many regular members and their children were also interested in attending. This curriculum is simple to use and very effective as a tool for introducing the Quaker basics.
