Description
Short Description:

Prepare to behold, as our digital photographic journey together of poetry, Taize style chant, and worship, inspires our ways of being, seeing and doing. Gain confident knowledge of the digital camera.

Long Description:

Set your digital camera to worship mode as we gather. We will begin and end each morning in worship/worship sharing. Poetry, sacred text, and inspirational chant will inform our photographic pathways. Our journey together will include gaining a confident use of the digital camera, lighting, low light/night photography, and an introduction to Photoshop, and printing. Providing witness, support, and encouragement, the group will work/play in triads as well as in the entire group. We will create our group's DVD slide-show to share with the Gathering on Friday, and for each group participant to take home. Bring a digital camera & instruction book, laptop with at least Photoshop Elements, CD/DVD blanks, tripod, flashdrive, Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte 8 1//2" x 11",
and 5 favorite photographs.
"God is at Eye Level" and "Marry your Muse" by Jan Phillips suggested
I will provide a Mac computer, a printer and DVD burner for the group.

Leader Discernment Process:

During my photography show at Pendle hill in January of 2008, I was invited by Pendle Hill to lead a short course last November 2008 on digital photography. I did not know that my gifts would surface in this way, but John Meyer knew! I never expected that it would turn out to be a peak life experience for me. The joy in leading this was nothing short of amazing. I led this again this November at Pendle Hill, and have one person who claimed" it changed my life", returning to participate again. The evaluations after the workshop were embarrassingly positive, and I was and am humbled to have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead a topic that integrated my professional skills with my spiritual life as a Quaker. Oh Bliss!

I have been recently hired to teach digital photography at The Fleisher Art Memorial, under the care of The Philadelphia Museum of Art. I teach two introductory digital photography classes, and one special projects class. I am delighted to be on their faculty, as they are, after 111 years, the oldest free art school in the nation, with a sanctuary that is dedicated as "a playground for the soul" and a motto of "art comes from within"!
I have found an amazing professional art community! And I am grateful.

Leader Experience:

see above

I co-lead at FGC Gathering "Transforming the Patriarchy into the
Peaceable Kindom" about 20 years ago. It was given successfully for about 3 years in a row, with many repeaters in the group.
