Description of Workgrants

With the exception of Junior Gathering support staff, workgrants are most appropriate for Friends who have previously attended the Gathering. Here is a sampling of workgrants. All workgrants are expressed as percentages of a basic adult fee (i.e., program fee, double room without air conditioning, and 3 meals a day).

25% Workgrant: $160
40% Workgrant: $255
50% Workgrant: $320
60% Workgrant: $380

As of mid-May, workgrant positions still available include:

Junior Gathering evening support staff (40%): work M-F 6:30 pm-9 pm plus attend all day training on Sunday. 

Junior Gathering morning support staff (50%): work M-F 8:30 am-noon plus attend all day training on Sunday. 

High School Right Hand Friend (60%): requires working mornings and two days prior to Gathering. Familiarity with high school program is important.

These workgrant positions are among those which have been filled as of mid-May.

Camping Coordinator (25%): communicate with campers before and during the Gathering about campground expectations.  Create appropriate signage at the campground.  Be a liason with Gathering staff if issues arise.

Gathering Photographer (50%): we are looking for experienced photographers who are talented at taking candid group photos and less candid individual portraits

Information Desk -morning shift (50%): work at the Information Desk in the mornings.

Information Desk - no mornings (40%): take a workshop and work 3-4 hours/day at the Information Desk.

Junior Gathering Snack Coordinators (mornings) (50%): apportion and deliver snacks to morning Junior Gathering classes.

Lend a Hand Assistant (40%): match/recruit one-time volunteer needs with volunteers at the Gathering.

Pre-Gathering office support (25-60%): work in Philadelphia office during the work week in May and June. Familiarity with Word and Excel needed

Stage Manager (40%):  Interface with BGSU staff to make sure that all evening programs go smoothly.  Attend daily sound check, and evening programs.  No work needed in advance of Gathering.

Sound Coordinator (50%): transport and set up FGCs new sound system (mixer, speakers, etc) and train individual operators at a variety of events.

Truck Loading and Unloading (25%):  Load and unload the Gathering truck in Philadelphia on the afternoon of Wednesday June 30 and the morning of Monday July 12.
