Dorm Accommodations

The Gathering begins Sunday July 1. On-campus housing during the Gathering is available only for full-time and half-time Gathering attenders. Prior to Friday June 29, housing is only available by special arrangement. On campus housing is not available after Saturday morning, July 7.

URI dorms are in the center of the portion of the campus used by the Gathering. Both singles (rooms for one person) and doubles (shared rooms with two beds) are available with and without air conditioning. Almost all of the dorms have bedrooms on a hallway, with a shared bathroom on each hall. One air conditioned dorm consists of suites of singles with semi-private baths. In the "house me near" portion of the registration form, one may request this suite-style dorm, but we cannot guarantee that all requests will be met.

Each bed comes with sheets, pillowcase, towel, washcloth, light blanket, and a pillow.

Housing Clusters

All registrants (except High School Program participants) are assigned to general housing unless they choose a specific housing cluster. Read more about housing clusters.

Camping

There is no on-campus tent camping. Read about nearby campgrounds. Friends camping off-campus register for the Gathering as commuters.

Hotels

Mention "Friends General Conference" when reserving a room at the Holiday Inn (2 miles away) and receive a rate of $99/night plus tax (nights of July 1-6 only). Reserve your room by May 15 to guarantee this price.

Meals

The Gathering meals will be all-you-care-to-eat, served in one dining room in the center of campus. Read more about meal plan choices and special diets.

Early Arrivals

Early housing: Friends choosing to arrive before Sunday July 1 pay Early Arrival Room Fees. Some Friends who arrive before Saturday June 30 and choose air conditioned housing will need to move to a new room on Saturday.

Early meals: The Gathering meal plan begins with dinner on Sunday evening July 1. The URI cafeteria first opens on Saturday June 30 for breakfast. Early meals may be purchased off-campus, or on-campus meals may be pre-purchased by June 6 via your on-line registration form. Friends will not able to make cash purchases of early meals at the cafeteria.

Avoid High School early arrival: Please avoid early arrival by High School participants—contact the Conference Coordinator to request an exception.
