More about the EarthQuaker Bike Trip

Service Project

Two days on the ride we’ll engage in Community Service and reflection -- engaged in projects that deepen our commitment to earth and provide us with opportunities to grow through experience. The planning of these projects is still in the works – check back for more details!

Eco witness

Global climate change is causing many Friends to reevaluate their relationship to the environment for Earth Care. One strategy for addressing Global Climate Change is to reduce the amount of carbon we produce in our human activities. This was part of the motivation for bringing this trip together. And there are deeper questions to be considered. The organizers of this trip have found that in the process of group, long-distance bicycle travel, issues of relationship and responsibility unfold.

The Earth Quaker Bike Trip organizers are hoping that a transformative experience of lived testimony will occur this summer, traveling by Human Powered Vehicle across southern Pennsylvania on the way to the “Courageously Faithful” FGC Gathering. By becoming a community of learning, Friends have a chance to experiment with how faith and practice can compliment one another in a Spirit-centered life. Through worship, service, conversation, and community we hope that we can listen for new ways we are given to live into these questions, thus arriving at Gathering rooted and grounded in love.
