Courageously Faithful
Dear Friends,
Come join us at the University of Pittsburg in Johnstown, PA as we explore what it means to be courageously faithful through worshiping together, playing together, attending workshops, and nurturing ourselves and each other.
Our theme, courageously faithful, was inspired by the words of Pierre Ceresole, a peace activist from the early 20th century. The following quotations from the booklet Pierre Ceresole Speaks give a brief glimpse of his thinking:
- "Do not pray for easier conditions - but greater strength."
- "Fear is the real enemy, especially fear for oneself - the fear of not being good enough, of repeating the same mistakes time after time. The greatest fear is that of compromising with the enemy within oneself: Fear of parting with one's money; Fear of seeing things as they are; Fear of names, systems, words; . . ."
- "I wish for the peace and happiness which can only be mine if they at the same time belong to all people, and which I otherwise consciously abstain from. National satisfaction and safety for one's own country, while need and misery prevail in others - that is abominable."
The gathering committee is hard at working planning the 2008 program, so come join us next year for a week in the woods at Johnstown!
