Worship at the Gathering

The Gathering provides many and diverse opportunities for worship. Starting amid the hubbub of on-site check-in, new arrivals may join a circle of Friends in silent worship. Our first and last mornings together feature Gathering-wide meetings for worship in different venues (indoors and outdoors; large and small groups).

During the week, workshops contain daily periods of worship or worship-sharing; workshop #13 is devoted solely to extended worship. Various groups offer worship opportunities, like the daily late-afternoon worship under the care of FLGBTQC and the simple Shabbat service offered by Jewish Friends late Friday evening. Friends receive a detailed list of worship-related activities upon arrival at the Gathering.

Throughout the week individuals are also invited to worship in the Silent Place, where quiet and materials help support personal reflection, as well as in the many peaceful spots to be found on the Johnstown campus. Singing, dancing, chanting, stretching, and interacting with nature and with Friends of all ages—these can each be experienced as worship.

May these many opportunities for worship at the Gathering enrich and refresh your spirit and nurture you when you return to daily life.
