Grants for Meetings
The Friends Meeting House Fund maintains a Grant Fund from which, at times, it may offer an outright gift to a Meeting with modest resources that wishes to improve its facilities for worship, First-Day School, or other community activities. Grants are usually within a range of $2,000 to $7,500, and depend, of course, on availability of funds. Meetings in Missoula (MT), Easton (NY), Hudson (NY) and Wilmington (DE) are recent recipients of grants.
Green Meeting House Grant Fund
The Green Meeting House Grant Fund of the Friends Meeting House Fund provides sustainability/green grants to Quaker meetings. These grants are used for energy audits and green improvements, such as more efficient heating and cooling systems. Voluntary contributions to the Fund will support reduced emissions and energy efficiency in Quaker meeting houses across the United States and Canada.
In 2010, $1200 of "voluntary travel taxes" were donated to the fund from attenders of the FGC Gathering. Similar gifts are contributed by many QuakerBooks customers.
In 2010, the Fund paid for an energy audit for an Illinois Yearly Meeting property.
