Why Quaker stories for children?

Storytelling is a powerful vehicle for drawing children into a topic.  The storytelling method used in Faith & Play (like Godly Play®) is deeply respectful of children and their spiritual lives.  In these approaches the amazing power of story is intensified through the movement of carefully chosen visual elements, intentional contemplative pacing, and invitations to reflect on the listeners’ personal or corporate experiences of the divine.  Rather than simply conveying information or talking about Friends faith and practice, Faith & Play or Godly Play® storytellers draw the listeners in and help them find their places in the stories.  The stories then take on added dimensions of meaning and relevance for the listeners.
