FGC’s Ministry on Racism Program is sponsoring a Gathering for Friends of Color and their immediate family members.

Meals and program will be at Mountain View Friends Meeting, Denver, CO.

This fall FGC’s Ministry on Racism Program is sponsoring an opportunity in the Midwest for Friends of Color and their families to come together to build an incredible multigenerational community through:

  • Mutual support and sharing
  • Worship
  • Exploring our Faith
  • Sharing what brought us to Friends
  • Identifying ways to support each other

Fees:
TBD

  • Friends are expected to pay for their own travel and retreat fees.  Although we would love to provide generous assistance to attend the retreat, we are unable to do so.  Therefore, we strongly encourage you to seek assistance from your monthly and yearly meetings.

  • Transportation planning: FGC will not be providing transportation to the meetinghouse.

  • In an effort to keep costs down, we will be preparing meals on-site, together. All participants will be assigned to assist with cooking meals.

Accommodations

While the fall retreat is designed as a regional gathering, FGC understands there will be Friends traveling to join us. This year we are unable to provide overnight accommodations. The following options are withing 2-4 miles of the meetinghouse:

  • La Quinta Inn, 1975 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver
  • Hampton Inn & Suites, Cherry Creek (Glendale), 4150 E Kentucky Ave
  • Residence Inn Denver, Cherry Creek, 670 S. Colorado Blvd., Glendale

Individuals of European descent are welcome to join us provided they are attending with a family member who is a person of color.

Past retreats provided the space for Friends to come together and explore our gifts and challenges, do work intergenerationally and in affinity groups, and explore the surrounding community. We look forward to another opportunity to share in deep worship with each other this year.

If you have questions about this opportunity Vanessa will be happy to assist you. Please email her at ministryonracism@fgcquaker.org.

Registration will be available at the beginning of August.
