FGC Nurturing Quakerism Campaign
Reaches 75% of Goal!
riends General Conference has been taking the story of the "Nurturing Quakerism" Campaign to many monthly meetings and regional groups within our affiliated yearly meetings. By the end of January 2001, $1.45 million has been received in gifts and pledges toward the campaign's $2 million goal. Friends have responded very favorably to these presentations and to FGC's longtime commitment to nurture Quakerism throughout North America. One Friend, after hearing Deborah Fisch talk about the Traveling Ministries Program at New Haven (CT) Meeting commented, "Clearly this new FGC work is filled with the Spirit. Deborah herself was Spirit-led as she explained the new program to us. She told great stories of how God's work is being furthered by traveling Friends."
At its heart the "Nurturing Quakerism" Campaign is about strengthening meetings and following the leadings of the Spirit. More than 70 volunteers and staff have been involved in presenting programs on FGC's services and highlights of our new work at monthly meetings and Quaker events. From these presentations Friends learn how the Campaign is helping to fund the new Traveling Ministries Program, Young Quakes Conferences, an expanded FGC regional conference program, other new services in religious education and publications, including FGC's presence on the world wide web. The implementation of these programs is possible only because hundreds of Friends who care deeply about the vitality of unprogrammed Quakerism contribute so freely of their time, energy and resources. Please lend us your support.
If you would like to help organize a program to explain FGC services and the benefits of the campaign at your meeting, contact Michael Wajda, FGC Development Manager, at 215-561-1700 or michaelw@fgcquaker.org.
