FGC Publications & Distribution: A Short History
By Wesley Mason. "In the early 1980s FGC faced a financial crisis referred to by some Friends as our "near death experience." As an alternative to going out of existence the organization had to take a hard look at what parts of its work could be preserved. It turned out that one of those essential functions was the provision of religious educational resource material to Friends."
Publications & Distribution: Past, Present and Future
By Pat Fox. "The settlers for the weekend brought all they needed. Our simplicity included knapsacks, sleeping bags, food and computers with printers. As we centered into the retreat we were aware that this was not an ordinary business plan but one that has as its core the Quaker value of service. Our focus is to combine service to monthly and yearly meetings with good business practice in the publications and distribution components of the program."
A Source of Contagious Amazement: The Directory of Traveling Friends
By Katrina Mason. "We've had demanding guests and strange guests but always interesting ones. Once we had a mother and daughter from the midwest staying in our upstairs bedroom and a father and son from New England in the downstairs bedroom. Another time a father and son from New Zealand left about half an hour before a family from Brunei arrived. The New Zealand folks were very serious, the Brunei family free spirits, they sent us cards and letters for quite a while afterward."
Books as Bridges to Community
By Lucy Duncan. "My work here is infused with that same sense of community. Though I don't have families traipsing in for story time or teachers coming to talk shop with me, the world of Quaker books sustains our faith in the same way that the children's books I sold at the Story Monkey helped those children to grow. I have wonderful conversations on the phone with people new to Quakerism or just starting a meeting, with authors who have a new book, or with enthusiastic and determined women interested in promoting our faith to the wider world."
David and Me
By Marty Grundy. "For a long time I have been telling folks new to Friends, or those who want to learn more about how to be a member of our Religious Society, that since we have no creed or liturgy, what they need to do is find a genuine Friend, follow him or her around, and learn. Then I've had to point out that a good many of our best Friendly examples are dead. The good news is that all is not lost, because a number of them left journals or memoirs. The bad news is that most of these journals are out of print."

Right Sharing--Right in Our Homes
By Pamela Haines. "The plan sprang into my brain full born. We would put a jar for Right Sharing in some central place in our house, and we would agree on a system of donations. "
