Workshop Description

This is an advanced workshop for Friends who have been actively engaged in doing racial justice work. Through interactive activities and discussion we will focus on enhancing our personal understanding of racial and ethnic divisions. We will share different approaches that have been successful in helping people understand the impact of racism/classism and gender bias. We expect participants to contribute by sharing exercises they have used successfully. We will spend time in worship, affinity groups, share readings and experience exercises suggested by the facilitators & participants. We expect participants to bring exercises that they have used successsfully with others, a list of websites they have found helpful, a reading list and a statement explaining why this work is important to them.

We will also spend time examining and visioning how to increase racial equity within the Religious Society of Friends including Friends General Conference.
