Housing Clusters

All registrants (except High School Program participants) are assigned to General Housing unless they choose one of the following clusters:

Prepare Your Food.  Friends choosing this "meal plan" will be housed in an apartment with two double rooms (a total of four beds).  Although this will not be listed as a Housing Cluster, these all Friends choosing "prepare your food" will be in the same dorm and will not be able to be housed in a different cluster.  Nor will "prepare your food" families be housed with most other families in General Housing.

AYF Cluster (Adult Young Friends) is open to adults aged 18-35 and will be in a dorm with air conditioning.  Doubles and singles are along the dorm hallways. You may participate in all of the AYF programs regardless of whether you live in the AYF Cluster.  The AYF Cluster will include a gender-neutral, trans-inclusive housing block.  Families which include parents who identify as AYF and young children up to age 5 are welcome in the AYF Cluster.

Contemplative Cluster will be in a dorm with air conditioned suites, including the option of single rooms and double rooms with private baths.  The Contemplative Cluster is a place for people intentionally seeking to deepen their spiritual life through contemplative practices such as worship, worship sharing, prayer, related study, and other opportunities for spiritual friendship.  If you desire contemplative living space and seek others who are similarly inclined, you may wish to choose this housing cluster and co-create a contemplative experience.  All are welcome who value your own sacred space and honor that of others. 

FLGBTQC Cluster (Friends for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Concerns). FLGBTQC cluster will be in an air conditioned dorm with suites, including the option of single rooms (but not double rooms) with private baths.   The cluster will include a gender-neutral, trans-inclusive housing block.

Fragrance-Free Cluster. There will be Fragrance Fee suites in an air conditioned dorm, including the option of singles and doubles with private baths.  Please contact Gathering staff if you need Fragrance Free Housing without air conditioning and they will see if that is possible.  Friends who choose this housing cluster agree not to use perfumes or scented personal or laundry products.  Gathering staff will ask the University not to use conventional cleaning products during the Gathering in the bathrooms of these suites.  Friends with scent/chemical sensitivities may choose to bring their own bed linens.

High School Cluster. Please choose this cluster if you are in the High School program or a High School staff person.  The High School Dorm does not have air conditioning. Please avoid early arrival by High School participants—contact the Conference Coordinator (gathering@fgcquaker.org) to request an exception.

Singles Cluster (i.e., unpartnered Friends) will be in in a dorm with air conditioning with suites which include the option of singles or doubles with private baths.  This cluster also welcomes adults who are attending the Gathering without their partner. Unpartnered young adults generally choose the AYF Cluster.

Families.  Unless families choose one of the above clusters, they will be housed with other families in a dorm with air conditioned suites.  Doubles with private baths are not available in the family dorm. All High Schoolers will be in the High School dorm.
