Camping

Make camping plans early -- there is a very well attended rodeo in Greeley during the Gathering!

When registering for the Gathering, CAMPERS ARE COMMUTERS.

This year all camping will be several miles from the campus. You will need to make your own reservations and arrange your own transportation from area campgrounds.

You have the option of reserving a site in advance or taking your chances at a local park. The campgrounds expect to be full for the weekends on both ends of the Gathering. Click on any of the links below for additional information and policies.

We recommend using the Greeley RV Park two miles from campus. We have made arrangements with the Fort Collins Bike Library for weeklong rentals. Read more if you would like to rent a bike. If you are a camper without a car, Gathering volunteers will help you get to the campground when you arrive, and help bring you and your equipment back to campus on Saturday July 6.

Greeley RV Park and Campground

LOCATION: 501 East 27th Street, Greeley, CO 80631

The main address of the Greeley RV and Campground is on the north side of the highway where we have 40 tent sites plus RV sites reserved for Friends General Conference. Overflow tent campsites are along the south side highway 34, at the intersection of Frontage Road and 28th Street, less than 1 mile east from highway 85 intersection.

FACILITIES: This is a large facility with some long-term rentals. There are 60-foot RV pull-throughs with full electric hook-ups, sidewalks, and a picnic table on each RV site. On the north side of Highway 34 there is a laundromat and store (carrying RV parts and supplies including propane bottle fill-ups).  We have 40 tent sites reserved on the north side with access to showers. On the south side of the highway (Frontage Rd and 28th St, about 1/2 mile from the northern part of the RV Park) are more RV sites and the overflow tent area with both open and shaded grassy spots. There are showers and restrooms in the RV area; overflow tent campers on the south side need to walk to the RV area to use a toilet.

COST: Friends General Conference group rate of $4 per person per night for tents, $23.05 per person per night for RVs and camper vehicles. You must mention that you are attending Friends General Conference in order to get these rates.

DISTANCE FROM UNC CAMPUS: 2.3 miles (8 minutes by car) Click here for directions.

TRANSPORTATION PLAN:  The Gathering committee will provide shuttles between campus and the campground at the beginning and the end of the Gathering.  If you need a shuttle you need to indicate this when you register. There will be no shuttles during the Gathering. We are exploring the rental of bicycles and hope to have more information about this possibility by late January.

DESCRIPTION : This site is adjacent to a fenced cold war era missile silo. Tours at the silo are available with prior arrangements. The site overlooks the Poudre River Valley, with an excellent view of the Rocky Mountains. There is normally a maximum 5-day limit, but we were told Friends could stay through the week. There are no showers available. There are no reservations! Sites are only available on a first come-first served basis. The caretaker said they have never been completely full except on holiday weekends. Note that the weekend of June 28-30 is likely considered a holiday weekend due to the popularity of the Greeley Stampede that weekend (and the next weekend, too).
