Anchor Groups

New for 2013

Anchor groups meet daily (1:30-3pm) and provide a place to return each day for grounding: a place to exchange ideas, share activities, and worship.

New attenders may find anchor groups especially meaningful as a way to get to deeply know a small group of Friends.   Parents should note that there is no children’s program during the afternoon. Young adults may participate in one of these anchor groups, or may choose to sign up at the Gathering for a young-adult-only support group which will meet at the same time as anchor groups. High School Program participants all meet daily with a High School support group, so will not participate in anchor groups.

How to Register

Friends request participation in an anchor group when they register.  Anchor groups are an experiment, so there will be  a limited number of groups.  (Newcomers and those registering by April 30 will be given first preference.)

Types of Anchor Groups

Friends may choose among these types of anchor groups:

  • General (no special focus)
  • Christian Friends
  • Half younger, half older adults
  • Contemplative (worship and worship sharing only)
