Thank you, Multnomah Friends, for your support of Young Adult Friend and Advocacy Corps member Sitara Nath during Friends Committee on National Legislation’s 2017  Spring Lobby Weekend. We are grateful for your support of this incredible annual FCNL event which gathers young adults from across the country to Washington D.C. to experience advocacy firsthand. Friends were incredible in this support and faithful work!

·       This year, 400 young people came to Capitol Hill from 37 States.

·       146 of these young advocates were able to experience Spring Lobby weekend because of Quaker meetings, churches, and schools’ support and assistance.

·       This was a 10% increase in Quaker youth involvement from 2016 (WOW!) and we thank you for your special outreach and assistance in helping us introduce Quaker youth to engaged activism with Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL).

All 400 young advocates carried a critical message to 165 congressional offices, asking for Congress to protect Medicaid, protect SNAP, and oppose the AHCA (American Health Care Act). Legislative Director of Domestic Policy Amelia Kegan has repeatedly stated “FCNL’s Spring Weekend lobbyists were crucial in propelling opposition to this health care bill.”

We at Friends Committee on National Legislation are grateful that 10 years of  Spring Lobby Weekend has led to such rich and powerful spirit-led advocacy in action. From all of us at FCNL to all of you, we thank you for your support and F(f)riendship and look forward to continuing engagement in March 2018.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.
