About the Advancement & Outreach Committee
In 1902, the newly organized Friends General Conference created a "Committee for the Advancement of Friends Principles" to increase public awareness of the religious beliefs and social testimonies of the Religious Society of Friends. Today the FGC Advancement Committee
- helps Friends Meetings become more visible, accessible, and welcoming,
- supports new and isolated meetings and worship groups,
- promotes Quaker outreach efforts grounded in spiritual revitalization, and
- looks after affiliation of local or regional groups of Friends with Friends General Conference.
