Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, the Development Assistant is responsible for a variety of database-centered, day-to-day fundraising operations and alumni relations tasks. The overall goal is for an expanded, up-to-date and accurate prospect and donor database to increase financial support.
o Ensure accurate and complete alumni database record management; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, projects (e.g. alumni directory),
o Data entry and processing of all gifts including credit card and web donations
o Maintain and update critical donor and alumni information and records and track giving history
o Provide analytical database reports and donor lists as necessary
o Assist with the production and mailing of CFS Annual Fund and development communications pieces
o Work closely with the CFS parents, alumni groups and CFS Committees in obtaining and tracking alumni information, correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
Additional Qualifications:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues and faculty throughout the school, including alumni, other constituencies, and the public
o High level of competence in managing relational database systems (Donor Perfect database experience is preferred)
o High professional and ethical standards and sensitivity for handling confidential data and personal information is essential
o Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently
o Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
o Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
o Fluency in English

Development Officer (DO) – Friends School

Background

The Friends Schools have been heavily reliant on tuition fees to balance its budget. To date, the fees constitute nearly 82% of our operating budget. As this percentage is quite usual for private schools, the school would like to increase and diversify its revenue base by more effective management of its donor relations. Our school is dear to many, Alumni, Quakers and others. We have an exciting story to tell that we are sure will grab the attention of many. This position is ideally suited for someone looking at a career in fundraising. As this is a new position within the School’s structure, a one year contract will be granted and renewal will be pending thorough evaluation.

Main tasks and responsibilities [specific immediate responsibilities]

The Development Officer will work under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Friends School, however, will be expected to plan, initiate and manage independent fundraising activities. The post holder will perform the following tasks:

- Assist the Director in developing a short and long term fundraising strategy through engaging various stakeholders including alumni and parents.
- Work with (start-up and maintain) new computerized donor management database.
- Solicit grants from individuals and organizations and ensure their proper follow-up.
- Design and manage annual campaigns, appeals and events
- Write compelling articles and communications to keep potential and present donors abreast with developments at the school
- Maintain active communication with supporters
- Create and manage online donation scheme
- Prepare a lively donor newsletter (bi-annually)
- Promotion and management of alumni relations and support
- Oversee the donor-related content of school website, ensuring up-to-date and dynamic information

Qualifications and competencies

The School is seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic worker with experience of development planning and project and resource management.

Required
- At least 5 years of experience in development work and fundraising
- Related university degree.
- Excellent English writing and communication skills. Ability to write concisely, creatively persuasively and passionately.
- Outstanding presentation skills especially in designing paper and electronic newsletters, appeals, etc…

Web and Online Communications Manager

Friends General Conference (FGC) is a Quaker organization which provides resources and support for Quaker meetings and Friends across North America. Our programs include an active conference program, a bookstore, publications, traveling ministries, youth ministries, religious education, outreach, and ministry on racism. Our organization focuses on nurturing Quaker meetings, so that they can nurture a vital religious life and witness among Friends. We foster a very collegial and cooperative atmosphere in our office.

FGC is seeking candidates for a full time position as our Web and Online Giving Manager. We have recently re-designed our web sites utilizing Drupal as the CMS platform and are working to continue to change our websites from brochure-ware into dynamic Web 2.0 community-building tools. We are in the process of implementing a new centralized CRM solution and a more dynamic online donor cultivation and giving program. We hope to employ a skillful, innovative and creative person to assist us in moving this work forward.
Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a consistent web site architectural structure, ensuring a consistent look and feel across all FGC web sites - www.fgcquaker.org (our main site) www.quakerbooks.org, www.quakerfinder.org, www.quakerquestfgc.org, www.quakeryouth.org, www.faithandplay.org (micro-sites), recommending and implementing enhancements and modifications to the FGC web sites, and assisting and training staff to post content. POSITION: Peace Building Generalist

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Peace Building Generalist will develop and implement the peace building work of the AFSC in North and South Carolina. The position will focus on: peace building; counter recruitment/alternatives for young people; advocacy and peace education campaigns. The position will be flexible to respond and contribute to national AFSC peace initiatives and regional issues. There is a high expectation of field work across the Carolinas as well as networking in the Region and nationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with AFSC Peace Building Goal staff to achieve broader organizational peace goals.
2. Plan, initiate and implement activities that advance the peace goals of the organization based on a clear work plan.
3. Strengthen the state-wide peace network in the Carolinas to build grassroots participation in the movement against war and militarism. Work in coalition with other peace groups in the Carolinas and nationally to advance peace, economic and social justice work in North and South Carolina.
4. Participate in community organizing, research, public education and develop resource materials around peace issues.
5. Serve as a spokesperson and represent the AFSC in the media, before public officials and at relevant Friends gatherings in consultation with the Area Coordinator and program committee.
6. Facilitate the work of volunteers and recruit, train and involve volunteers.
7. Develop and maintain contacts within communities of color, the GLBT community, the peace community (including Quakers), university students and others to: 1) build bridges between these constituencies and 2) to participate in ongoing activities.
8. Collaborate with Southeastern Region (SERO) program staff to develop and implement plans and outreach strategies for building a grassroots constituency.
9. Develop, implement and evaluate Three-Year Proposals in consultation with the Regional Director and the SERO Program Committee.

10. Seek funding for specific projects in conjunction with the Area Coordinator and the Development Committee.

11. Prepare articles and promotional materials relevant to peace work.

12. Prepare program reports for the Area Coordinator, Program Committee and Executive Committee as required.

13. Attend regional staff meetings, Executive Committee meetings when appropriate and relevant national AFSC meetings.

He or she directs and implements the women’s mentoring project of the New Empowerment for Women Plus Program in the Logan, WV Office. He or she will also help in developing and implementing other NEW+ projects that benefit women and families

INTRODUCTION
The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), established in 1917, is a Quaker-based organization conducting social change, service and education programs through its offices across the United States and internationally. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Western Massachusetts Program, begun in 1968, has a long history of popular education and grassroots organizing for justice, peace, youth and community development. Based in Florence, Massachusetts, the program serves people in Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden and Berkshire counties. The primary areas of focus are:

Peace and Economic Justice: Help educate, organize, and mobilize the WMA community toward creating a non-militarized, economically and socially just region, nation, and world.

Youth Organizing: Support young people in their quest to be agents of their own positive social change in keeping with AFSC principles.

These goals are met by initiating projects and campaigns and working in coalition with other groups including student and community organizations, low-income advocacy groups, and faith-based communities. Western Massachusetts AFSC is committed to movement building for social change. Its program is supported by the AFSC New England Regional Office (NERO) staff and committees, and by the AFSC Western Massachusetts Program Committee.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Western Massachusetts Program Coordinator is responsible for:

1.Community Organizing
•Supports and provides leadership for coalitions and campaigns, in both current and new initiatives, that further the primary goals.
•Develops priorities and implements program plans in coordination with the WMA Program Committee and the Regional Director of Programs.
•Maintains and expands connections with community-based peace and justice activists, and with community, religious, and school-based organizations inclusive of people of all backgrounds on a regional and wider basis.
•Serves as the spokesperson for AFSC, including working with print and electronic media, editing and producing the program’s newsletter, and conducting other forms of public communication as required. Works to empower others to speak.

2.Program Administration
•Coordinates programming and manages the budget.
•Raises a significant portion of the budget through grant writing and donor solicitation in collaboration with the Western Massachusetts Program Committee, the regional fundraisers and the Director of Programs.
•Attracts, supervises, and supports interns and volunteers.
•Administers and manages the office with the assistance of volunteers and interns.
•Monitors and ensures effective functioning of computers and other office technology systems.
•Provides support to the WMA Program Committee.
•Prepares and monitors the program budget and submits remittances, legislative/lobbying reports, timesheets, and other administrative paperwork to the Regional Office on a timely basis.

3. Coordination with Regional and National AFSC
•Works closely with the supervisor of the program and other appropriate members of the New England Regional management team, providing monthly reports and maintaining regular communication.
•Attends NERO staff meetings. Participates in regional and national AFSC committees and initiatives as appropriate and as time and resources allow.
•Maintains communication with National.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.A demonstrated commitment to nonviolent social change.
2.Demonstrated history of providing leadership and support for community and/or issue-related organizing initiatives.
3.Demonstrated ability and commitment to work with a diverse population and to build bridges among groups. History of anti-oppression organizing with adolescents, college-age youth, and adults desirable.

Summary of Responsibilities: The AGS for Inclusion will provide leadership for achieving and sustaining diversity as an indispensable element of AFSC'S program and administrative excellence. The AGS/Inclusion will hold responsibility for ensuring steady, broad engagement in the organization’s effort. Reporting to the General Secretary and working closely with the Human Resources Dept., s/he will take initiative in developing programs and procedures and securing resources to enable the recruitment and retention of a diverse staff. To do so, the incumbent will consult and collaborate regularly with AFSC'S leadership, the Diversity Council, the HR Department and, as needed, with departments, regions, programs, staff groups and individual staff members as well. The AGS/Inclusion will act as a resource for administrators and committees addressing related issues of equity; and for those promoting a fair and open workplace environment.

JOB TITLE: Associate Regional Director, Southeastern Region (Full-time)
JOB LOCATION: Atlanta, Georgia
SUPERVISOR: Southeastern Regional Director
SALARY: Based on experience, $50,000 – $58,000, generous benefits.

SUMMARY: The Associate Regional Director reports to and is supported by the regional director with flexible, delegated duties. The associate regional director shares responsibility for the general leadership in the region, general administrative oversight, program direction and evaluation, program supervision and support, public interpretation, and relationships with the Religious Society of Friends and other organizations nationally and in the region. This position is part of a career ladder for the position of regional director and program directors and coordinators are encouraged to apply. Funding for this position is available for four years with the potential for future funding.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program:

1. In consultation with the Regional Director, the ARD has authority and responsibility for program work in the region and consults regularly with the regional director regarding program.
2. Assists with development and evaluation of programs.

4. Attends Area Program Committee meetings at least once a year.

Program Associate-Dayton

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Build a working relationship between teachers and parents of the African and Hispanic immigrant youth in the Dayton Public Schools with English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
2.Organize youth, parents, and teachers in the Dayton Public School with ESL programs to attend educational workshops on cross-cultural communication skills.
3.Organize youth to attend educational workshops on conflict resolution and alternatives to violence behaviors among youth in the Dayton Public Schools with ESL programs.
4.Organize African and Latino youth, and African-American youth to attend cross-cultural events and exchanges in the Greater Dayton Area.
5.Assist the Program Director in preparing program quarterly and/or annual reports for the program advisory committee, Human Migration & Mobility Network and the Regional Executive Committee; and in the implementation of any special program tasks as requested.
6.Attend regional staff meetings Executive Committee meetings when necessary, and other relevant AFSC-wide meetings or retreats.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Requires a minimum of 3 years experience of social change organizing youth to be community leaders with an organization similar to AFSC. Ability to recruit, train and supervise youth and volunteers.
2.Ability and experience doing education advocacy for youth of color at local or state levels in the United States. Demonstrated knowledge/experience of the Dayton Board of Education structure is desirable.
3.Demonstrated knowledge/experience to work collaboratively in a multicultural context, and to bring people together across lines of race, culture, ethnicity, religion, and other differences.
4.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, to work according to program work plans in consultation with the program director. Ability to take the initiative, manage priorities and work independently on specific issues.
5.Ability to build mutually respectful relationships with co-workers, constituents, partners, public officials, and the community
6.Demonstrated analytical and communications skills; required fluency in spoken and written English, and fluent in another language (Swahili, Spanish, and or Arabic languages preferred).
7.Experience or willingness to learn how to utilize the media to create public awareness about issues.
8.Ability to plan and facilitate educational workshops for youth, and adults.

Background: The work of the American Friends Service Committee to promote peace, social justice and humanitarian service, is rooted in the experience and faith of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). While AFSC staff is not required to belong to any particular denomination or faith, they are expected to understand and support the Quaker foundations of the work of AFSC. These guiding principals are based on the belief in that of God in every person, and the right of each person to reach his or her full potential.

Summary of Responsibilities: The Development Associate is responsible for administrative support for the Leadership Gift and Grant Officers, for timely entry and acknowledgement of gifts as well as for development activities related to small to mid-level donors. In this capacity the Associate is responsible for entering and maintaining records, database and acknowledgements. Working in a team with the Leadership Gift and Grant Officers as well as with the Regional Director, the Associate coordinates activities such as local appeals and events. The Associate will interface with program staff in relation to development efforts. This position entails occasional weekend or evening meetings as well as occasional travel to the Central Valley and to national meetings.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement efforts to increase the giving of small- and mid-level donors (up to $1,000) through calls, letters, and donor engagement activities. Interpret the work of the AFSC in articulate, compelling and creative ways. Coordinate with the Leadership Gifts Officer on donors that grow to the major gifts level.

2. Plan, in discussion with the supervisor, and coordinate regional fundraising events/dinners, working with regional and national staff. Facilitate joint efforts of regional and national fundraising so as to ensure optimum use of resources and co-coordinated fundraising and service to donors.

3. Provide administrative support for the Leadership Gift and Grant Officers and the good functioning of the development office which raises funds for all AFSC, including the Pacific Mountain Region.

4. Maintain a consistent presence in the office to receive phone calls and process correspondence from donors or others regarding development issues. Research information, pass on inquiries as needed and ensure timeliness in responding to all requests.

5. Assure that donor records in Raiser’s Edge (RE), including notes of cultivation, solicitation actions and donor information of relevance to AFSC are entered promptly, are up-to-date and accurate.

6. Co-ordinate various kinds of acknowledgements and submission of receipts and stewardship reports to donors.

7. Design and coordinate mailing of regional appeals, working with regional and national staff and vendors as well as advise on regional newsletters and brochures.


8. Produce regular development reports: financial & activities summaries to the region and national development office.

9. Consult as necessary with fundraising colleagues, participate in conference calls, and attend national gatherings of all AFSC fundraisers. Meet regularly with Development staff in PMRO and the Regional Director. As requested, attend meetings of the regional staff and committee meetings as appropriate.

Summary of Development Department: Development staff, in cooperation with program staff, administrative staff and committee members, raises general and restricted funds for AFSC. Solicitations are carried out by mail appeals to current and prospective donors; by cultivation and personal visits for outright major and planned gifts, and for large annual gifts; by preparation of program proposals and reports to foundations and by other fundraising methods as are appropriate and feasible.

Summary of Job Responsibilities: The Leadership Gift Officer focuses on the cultivation and solicitation of individuals who have the greatest potential for supporting AFSC’s programs. The Leadership Gift Officer relates to donors who require the most deftly carried out cultivation leading to solicitation of major outright and planned gifts, including bequest intentions. He/she must coordinate the involvement of other development staff, program staff, and volunteers in the cultivation process so that priorities are kept in view, deadlines are met, and duplication of effort or action at cross purposes is avoided.

Responsibilities:

1. Raise funds for all work of the AFSC through carefully planned cultivation and solicitation of individuals who have the means to make very large outright, blended or planned gifts, including bequest intentions.

2. Utilizing prospect research and through discussions with donors, staff and committee members, qualify donors’ capacity to make major gifts. If the donor does not have the capacity and inclination to give a major gift to AFSC, assign the donor appropriately.

3. Increase current donors’ or potential donors’ interest in and financial commitment to, AFSC through visits, calls, letters, and donor engagement activities. Interpret the work of the AFSC in articulate, compelling and creative ways. The Leadership Gift Officer is expected to make 125 to 150 visits per year.

4. Participate in regular donor strategy sessions. Taking into account the complex financial situations and organizational relationships of many of AFSC’s most sophisticated donors, develop the most effective cultivation plans and introduce the most compelling gift options.

5. Involve program and senior administrative staff, committee members, and board members in the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects. Provide coaching and support as needed.

6. Reviewing donors’ complex financial situations, develop the most appropriate outright, planned, and blended gift options. Work with gift planning staff as necessary.

7. Personally acknowledge gifts from assigned donors and coordinate additional acknowledgments.

8. Maintain donor records on Raiser’s Edge, including notes of cultivation and solicitation actions and donor’s personal information of relevance to AFSC.

9. Keep informed about the total program work of the AFSC through contacts with program staff, attendance of events, and reading materials.

10. Consult as necessary with fundraising colleagues, participate in conference calls, and attend national gatherings of all AFSC fundraisers.

11. Supervise Development Associate or other support staff as required.
